Greetings, freshman!
Congratulations on your study place and welcome to study computer science (CS) at the University of Eastern Finland, Joensuu campus. We look forward to making your freshman year memorable. To make your first steps as a freshman as successful as possible, Skripti's tutors are ready to help you. We are recognized by the silver gray overalls that we wear with pride. The task of the tutors is to act as support and security for freshmen in the first steps of their studies. Below are introductions to this year's tutors. If necessary, the tutors will help even before the start of the studies, so feel free to contact us.

At skripti.org/freshman, you can find a good information bank for future students compiled by Skripti ry, the subject organization of the computer science Joensuu campus. If you feel uncertain about things, visit the address and see if you remembered everything! Have a fun summer, remember to wash your hands and see you in the fall!

International Tutors

Lukas Holopainen

Hi there.

My name is Lukas Holopainen, and I'm from Espoo. I'm now starting my second year of studies here in Joensuu. Besides studying, my daily life consists of working and hanging out with friends I've made through my studies, playing games, and chilling.

I work as an international student tutor, so you'll mostly see me with the international students in my role as a tutor, but we will definitely meet at some freshman events and activities organized by the student association.

Heidi Sormunen

Hi! I'm Heidi, a 32-year-old second-year computer science student from Joensuu. I'm a career changer, by profession I'm a nurse.

I've been tutoring in high school and university of applied sciences before, so I thought I'd continue the "tradition" at the university too! I mainly work as an international tutor for exchange students. In my free time, I go to the gym, play games, jog, read and do various (ugly) handicrafts.

You can approach me with all kinds of questions that bother you!

Mika Ruuhilahti

Hi! I'm Mika and I will be one of our international tutors. During the summer I'm working and looking forward to the arrival of autumn. In my free time I go to the gym, practice martial arts and metal music is close to my heart.
